  24. When I had to do this under AIX, I couldn't find a way to keep the
  25. operating system from cleaning up the port when the process ended.
  26. Instead I put Kermit into the background and removed the lock file.
  27. This worked, as long as I didn't reactivate Kermit while the other
  28. program was using the port.
